Hi, I’m Caroline Strawson and founder of our Accredited and Certified Narcissistic Trauma Informed Coaching Certification™ Programme.

Although I am an accredited CPD coach and an ICF Accredited Trauma Informed Therapist and Coach, and the founder of The School of Embodied Trauma Informed Living. I am, first and foremost, a human. 

I felt shame, guilt, and like I was worthless. I thought it was my fault and I did not understand that I had been abused by a narcissist.

Narcissist is an overused and misunderstood word in our society and as I was looking around for help, there weren’t many options that incorporated these elements of cognitive AND somatic healing techniques.

Now, how did I get here?

In 2010, I had a series of life-changing traumatic events happen to me. My mum died very suddenly who was my rock and best friend, my husband walked out on me and our two children leaving us with over £70,000 ($100,000) worth of debt.

I didn’t even realise at that stage that I had been the victim of narcissistic abuse as I was literally at rock bottom and a shell of myself. In fact, it was only having my two children totally reliant on me that kept me from departing this earth.

I was diagnosed with complex PTSD and was suffering from depression, anxiety, panic attacks, and self-harm.

How could an intelligent woman like myself who had a medical background find herself in that situation!?!

I felt alone, isolated, and in a very dark place. No one understood what I was going through and this made me feel like maybe I was the crazy one?! In April 2013, I even had my family home repossessed as I had more money going out than coming in. I had quite literally lost everything other than my two beautiful children.

I thought once I divorced, the abuse would stop, but it didn’t, in fact, it escalated. This is what started my own deep self-healing journey. 

My therapist said to google “narcissistic personality disorder” and it was like a lightbulb went off!!! It all made sense, but how was I ever going to heal?

No one seemed to understand and the more I seemed to talk about narcissism, the more I felt misunderstood and this perpetrated my feelings of not feeling worthy or good enough.

Even professionals seemed to not understand the depth and parameters of narcissistic abuse and I just felt stuck and on days when I felt I was taking 5 steps forward, the next day, I would feel like I was taking 10 steps backwards.

I started to read, learn and educate myself. I started a business from home and within 12 months, it had exploded and I was able to pay off all my debt but what I felt driven to do was help others.

I could feel that I was healing and I started to look all around the world for the best trainers and courses to do so that I could create an integrative trauma informed therapy and coaching business to help others achieve what I realised was happening to me and that was POST TRAUMATIC GROWTH. I knew that if I wanted to help others, I first needed to be the best version of mySELF.

I felt like I had a calling, that I had gone through all of this trauma and that it was now my purpose to go out and educate, inspire, and help heal others to live their best life. As I ventured deeper into myself, this passion just kept getting stronger.

I knew many may not understand because simply saying the word narcissist was often met with rolling eyes and even sometimes judgement. But that made me even more determined as it highlighted a need to really be part of a deeper education on the subject of narcissism.

I realised that “judgement" from others was actually a protector part and that parts of us that show up that are more destructive or not productive are actually there to protect us feeling the pain of a wounded younger part of ourselves. I needed to get to know myself and why I had attracted a narcissist into my life. For a good few years, I waited for a knight in shining armour to come and rescue me!!

I waited and waited and waited...... He didn’t come.

BUT I rescued myself and that was by far the best gift I could ever have given myself.

The more I learned, the more I realised that I wanted to help others become free and heal narcissistic trauma, find meaning and awaken their true purpose just like I had.

I have now built up a successful 7-figure practice and am an international multi award-winning ICF Accredited Trauma Informed Coach and Therapist specialising in helping others heal the trauma of narcissistic abuse to a deep nervous system level
